JSON backup import & export

Updated Jul 18, 2026

One JSON file for your whole workspace — text notes, sticky boards, and mind maps.

Your escape hatch

Local storage is durable until a browser profile is wiped. Browser Notes makes that risk manageable: download a versioned JSON backup of notes, sticky boards, and mind maps, then import it on another device or after a reset.

Demo backups in the repo are the same format — useful for screenshots and onboarding.

Complements other exports

Use JSON backup for a full round-trip of the app state. Use Markdown or Obsidian export when you want human-readable files in another tool.
